[RE-wrenches] Convex modules

Kris,
It’s my understanding that this is a fairly common defect with thin framed
72 cell modules. I have noticed this convex shape mostly on modules in the
30-35mm range of frame thickness and have personally seen this with 72 cell
modules from Canadian Solar, REC, Hanwha and Yingli. I have yet to see an
issue arising from this, however, the shape can make for an unsightly wave
in an array.
Lackluster response from the manufacturer but it seems like they have been
made aware of this for some while and have chosen not to correct it, which
may speak to the benign-ness of the issue (or to bad QC protocol).
