I have used many older magnums with the 2000 W Honda‘s and the Harbor Freight version with no problems whatsoever
The key is to set the maximum charging down to under the limit of the inverter
I’m presently running a harbor freight 3500 W inverter generator it charges at 70% and runs flawlessly
Best 600 bucks I ever spent

Since Magnum was founded we have sold and installed their inverters to customers using the 2000i, many hundreds of customers. Not one has reported a problem. As long as you decrease the charge rate to about 50% or less, they work flawlessly.
