John - A resistance test of each leg will show you the cable + windings that should be roughly 1 ohm, and they should be equal within .1 ohm. This will verify if the cable, splices and motor windings are OK. But, it won’t tell you if there is a mechanical issue. I may be able to help you directly, or else refer you to a solution. I’ll write to you off-list if you don’t mind.
As an aside, if I may put on my educator hat: The industry uses the term 3-phase to refer to conventional 3-ph AC pumps. Your helical rotor pump, we refer to as “brushless DC” or the better, but less common term “electronically commutated motor (ECM)”. It does use a form of 3-ph, via 3 wires, but we name it something more specific to distinguish it from the conventional AC.

It quit a few months ago right when we were getting into a drought here in Vermont. How can I be sure it is a controller issue and not the pump itself. My spring has dried up and I am now pumping from my other building and another spring 800' away using a Shurflow 12v pump. It is not doing well. You mentioned a Lorentz distributor which triggered me to jump in here. Is there a way to determine if the pump is good with resistance test of each leg? Or leg to leg with wires disconnected from controller?
