[RE-wrenches] Aquion disposal

We had some random 6 volt tray failures from 48 volt Aspens as well, (making the whole stack look bad, but it was bad MC4 connections. So we just charged the low trays (6 volts) individually and brought them up. There does however seem to be poor series connections in the stacks and occasional goo at the connectors, no explanation.
We too had an installer unstack (unbolt) a whole set and now they're all trash.
Kind regards

I love nuclear energy! It's just that I prefer fusion to fission. And it just so happens that there's an enormous fusion reactor safely banked a few million miles from us. It delivers more than we could ever use in just about 8 minutes. And it's wireless!"

How many of these are going bad? Is this a major problem, or has mismanagement ruined a few?

I was lucky that my local county Hazo-house took a look at the MSDS and said drop them off. The person there saw my big MSDS printout and said uh oh, but then she knew just where to look and said fine no problem drop them off. Too bad not everyone is that knowledgeable about what they are looking at.
These are so much easier to move when you take them apart too. 30 lbs cell blocks. Then you have some interesting parts to do something with. Attached is a photo of my Super Aquion Gravel Tamper tool. Some of the other aluminum parts will get incorporated into one of my homemade telescopes.

Howdy wrenches,

Does anyone have any experience with disposing of the Aqueon battery stacks?
We have a number that have failed and our local waste station is balking, regardless of how much hand-holding we provide and specifications, MSDS and manufacturer info we supply.
We have been referred to the state Environmental Conservation Agency and they are discussing haz-mat and recycling requirements with no understanding of their components.
Any suggestions, recommendations or experience with recycling/disposing of these batteries?
Â
Thanks,
Glenn
