[RE-wrenches] Aqueon disposal

Howdy wrenches,

 

Does anyone have any experience with disposing of the Aqueon battery stacks?

We have a number that have failed and our local waste station is balking,
regardless of how much hand-holding we provide and specifications, MSDS and
manufacturer info we supply.

We have been referred to the state Environmental Conservation Agency and
they are discussing haz-mat and recycling requirements with no understanding
of their components.

Any suggestions, recommendations or experience with recycling/disposing of
these batteries?
