[RE-wrenches] Mounting on rock

The last time I looked at an engineered ballasted on the ground type of mount:

90 MPH micro burst/120 MPH winds came in at 18 # of ballast per sqft of module on a 38 deg rack with the leading edge at 3’ AFG. This was simple on flat ground. 

 

Back to the rock situation:

I would suspect drilling rebar at opposing angles and creating a concrete pad with a rebar cage on a rock out-cropping would be a very stable platform depending on access to the location. I have hired a concrete pump trailer  to overcome the 150’ distance from truck access to the array location.

Aaron,

I have seen large pole mounts in Portugal in an above ground ring of concrete 3 feet high and 6 feet in diameter. I would get an engineers opinion on the size but that would be easier than digging a hole in rock.

I have a customer that requires a mounting option I have yet to encounter.  His site sits on top of of a massive hill of granite.  It is relatively flat.  Are there any mounting options that could work here?  We are only talking about (12) to (16) modules for an off grid array.  Is there anything that can bolt to rock?  I typically use dpw or Mt solar pole mounts but can't imagine how these options could work.  Any thoughts?
