Not sure if this would work..... but....  How about feeding the hydro output
into a large industrial battery charger or chargers. They are available in three
phase.
Modify the charger by eliminating the stepdown transformer. Basically what you
need is a rectifier. Then feed the resulting DC to a conventional solar grid-tie
inverter.

As Jay implied, it can be quite complicated and expensive to sync a hydro with
the grid. The utility's typically require sophisticated protective relays which
require annual testing by utility approved venders. The hydro I help service
pays $1500.00 each time this has to be done. If you can find a way to do it
using UL approved inverters, you may save everyone many tears. SMA Windy Boy and
Power One wind inverter systems work in a similar way.

Got a phone call from a gentleman that is in need of a device that will take
240v 60hz and synch with the local utility.
I guess kind of like a grid tie inverter, but AC in not DC input.
