mounting materials in tropical zones [RE-wrenches]

Hawaii wrenches and others in tropical locales,

Have you built any mounting structures using
hot-dipped galvanized steel?  Based on your
experiences what would you recommend for mounting a
rooftop system about 1.5 miles from the coast in a
tropical loaction?
