Evidentally, those panels they use that fold out are not solar cells as
such but a thing called 'thermoelectric generators'

It appears they are micro Sb-Bi thermocouples embedded in a very thin
flexible epoxy film; it seems the fabrication process is a lithographic
one.

Although expensive, it would eventually lead to all manner of new
applications like on tents, clothing, etc
