Regards to being idealistic.  I often wonder what impact my little solar
sales will have on the direction we seem to be heading (in terms of
energy generation/consumption and related issues).  I like the answer
Mark Hertsgaard gave at his keynote address at this year's Midwest
Renewable Energy Fair.  When asked if he was optimistic in our ability
to survive the ecological calamity of the next hundred years (not
verbatium), he said that it was hard to be optimistic, faced with the
facts,.  He went on to say that it was not really an issue of optimism
vs. pessimism, but rather one of hope over despair.

Good thoughts and a clear license to sell solar (develop the industry)! 
Care must be taken however that the selling of solar makes no false
claims.  Solar sales that result in unhappy customers seem to have a
larger voice than those who are happy with their investment and a few
bad PV's (or a $1,500 dollar 150 watt micro-tie to the wrong customer)
can spoil the whole array.
