My two cents:
I install battery box fans and backdraft preventers whenever I can convince
the customer that it is worth the extra money, which is most of the time.
Indoor air quality is never good, especially in the northern climates in the
winter.  Why add pollutants?  Even a remote chance of an explosion is cause
enough for me to take precautions.  Hydrogen is extremely flammable.  Hydrogen
sulfide is poisonous.  I use Cone Construction's Power Vent.  Easy to
install.  No failures to date, zero.  I don't have time to reinvent the wheel,
or stock parts for it.
