E-meter [RE-wrenches]

Travis,
    The LLO option on the E-Meter will start a two-wire gennie.  Bob-O
tipped me on this several years ago.  In theory it allows you to control
generator operation based on % of full, rather than the voltage/time
algorithm of the Trace.  Problem is, you're right--the E-Meter is best
suited to EVs, not homes.  Its automatic recalculation of CEF and your
best-guess programming of Peukert's exponent make its logic quirky over
time.
    The E-Meter needs 5 parameters met to see a full charge and reset values
(the TriMet needs 2).  If you have a system that regularly cycles without
all five parameters being met, you will tend to develop an accumulated
error, which can lead to an erroneously low % reading that is harder and
harder to reset (Remember parameter one: all amp-hours removed must be
returned).  I see this happen on a large system for an intentional community
in the mountains north of here.  I suggested changing to a TriMet.
    Just a few cautionary notes...
