Hey Allan,

Yup on the EQ,  One can also up the bulk voltage (and possibly
absorption time) to something that will approximate an EQ.  Too bad it
doesn't just work the way it should.

I have done a number of 3/4 horse 240 volt pumps with the Trace T-240
and have had good success switching the T-240's primary hot lead
directly from a Square D pressure switch, paralleling both sets of
contacts on the pressure switch.  

On Grid-tied systems, I add a double throw 30 amp power relay with 240
volt coil and leave the pump on the utility unless they go down.  That
relay switches the pump (and it's regular pressure switch) between the
utility and the output end of the T-240 based on the presence of 240vac
utility at the coil.  In this case, I still use the other pressure
switch to supply power from the inverter to the primary of the T-240,
and set this pressure switch to come on and shut off at a slightly lower
pressure settings than the main pump pressure switch.  Actually, Bob-O
may have originally come up with this arrangement.
