Jon,
Our business runs much like yours.  We pride ourselves in thorough system
design using what we believe to be the cream of the crop products. We sell
systems nationally, mostly based on word of mouth refferals from happy and
satisfied customers. I used to install but as the business grew and
Oregon's inspectors cracked down, it didn't make sense to continue.  We
have a few good electricians in southern Oregon that love the concept of
renewables and have been willing to learn from us how to install pv.  I'm
working with a handful of other "outlaws" in Oregon(pv installers) as well
as our state office of energy, head of the state electrical inspection
division, and OSEIA to hopefully create a legal status for Solar
Contractors to do our jobs without fear of fines.  It will take
legislative action and if we win, I'll be wrenching again.  I hope
companies like Sierra Solar and Energy Outfitters will be included on this
list.
