Hi Jack,

That is true.  Any interference with the power output of the gen set
could create
a situation where the battery charging output of the inverter might need
to be
adjusted down.  A tune up or decarbonization might also be needed.  A
customer
recently had difficulties that required his Onan to be taken apart and
decarbonized.

Several years ago,  on a service call, an Onan kept dying out when
trying to
charge batteries and run a forced air furnace.  It was a system with too
many
loads for the solar, and the generator ran constantly.  (In my opinion,
a forced
air furnace is the death knell of a solar system).

The generator ran for many hours each day, mainly to supply the 700 to
800 VA
blower load. They kept adding more modules and more batteries, but the
furnace
blower was just an out of balance load.  The gen set finally got too
weak to keep
running, when the loads were applied.
