SW2512 and pump problems [RE-wrenches]

Hey Jack,

Sorry to respond with questions, but it seems like the problem has to
lie with either the DC supply to the inverter, the inverter itself, the
ac supply to the pump, or the pump itself.  Okay so that's obvious, but
it can also be a combination.  

Some questions that may help in determining what's going on with that
pump.  First, how many amps DC does the Emeter say the pump is drawing. 
Second, and you almost gotta have a Fluke 87 (or similar) meter with
Min/Max recording, how far does the voltage drop on the DC inputs of the
Trace when the pump comes on?  On the pump end, what size wire do you
have going out to the pump and how long a run?   Maybe also, how much
current ac is the pump drawing? 

Another note, it is my understanding that sub-pumps can actually draw
more current when pumping at zero PSI to an open pipe than when
"finishing up" at high PSI and not moving much water.  Maybe someone
more knowledgable could come in here, but I think inexpensive two wire
pumps have a starter winding that should come on to get things going and
if the starter winding is toast, the primary winding could be drawing
lots more current on pump start-up. -- Kurt Nelson
