Todd,

Take a look at a (somewhat radical) site called www.dieoff.com

The presentation is a bit out there, but the material is incredible. Do a
search on "oil extraction". A couple good papers are at:

http://208.240.253.224/page138.htm (When will the Joy Ride End)

http://208.240.253.224/page131.htm (SYNTHESIS -- WHAT IT ALL AMOUNTS TO, A
portion of a book by C. J. Campbell)

http://208.240.253.224/page140.htm (The End of Cheap Oil)

Although the site is radical, many of the papers contained in it are
written by "mainstream" consultants, geologists and others.

The long and the short of it is, we will see high energy prices, and within
the lifetimes of all but the oldest of us. So don't dispair at the lack of
high energy prices, dispair at the lack of understanding and action on the
part of our government and individuals who are bing totally hoodwinked by
short-term tunnel-vision corporations.

Happy reading. Sopabox is back in the closet.

Jeff

Unfortunately I doubt we will ever see that... Globally we have the
"biggest stick" which I guess
allows us to do whatever we want without worry, are "FREE" to be wasteful
and excessive in our energy consumption and associated pollution. I see it
as self centered, isolationist politics...
