Hey Jason, consider Crusing Equipment's E-meter. Installed as a whole
house meter, it will give good readings on PV current when loads in the
home are off (reads what ever is going into or out of the battery and
also displays accumulated Amp Hours). Bobier Electronics produces a
multi-channel meter called something like Powermaster? (used to be
OmniMeter) and it can read three channels in addition to the main
battery channel with accumulated amp hours for each. At least twice the
price of the E-meter, but is fun to play with especially when plugged
into a PC with Joe's "Omni-Link" software.

In regards to the difference between transfer switches on gen-sets vs.
utility interactive inverters, the gen-set is not designed to back-feed
the grid which may be why the utility is so confused on the issue. I
still say we should give em the disconnect and save the battle for
bigger issues (in Wisconsin, insurance!).
