Lockable Disconnect [RE-wrenches]

Don't most utilities already have a visible lockable disconnect mounted
outside the dwelling, namely the meter? Pulling the meter was an old
way of disconnecting a house from the utility before mains and it
remains the preferred way for utilities to disconnect delinquent
customers today, and the case is lockable. I have also never seen a
visible lockable disconnect required for even a legally inspected
installation of a backup generator and automatic transfer switch. I
commonly refer to my grid tied systems as "solar electrical generators"
with inspectors to draw parallels with things that they are familiar
with. Because as we all know here, the big differences are not in their
safety and sophistication, but are in their pollution production.
