Mod-sine inverter noise [RE-wrenches]

It's a constant wrassle with the modified square wave inverters 
sometimes. Can we assume you've checked the usual suspects? No open 
ground in the ac receptacle feeding the VCR? The TV antenna wire not 
running close to and parallel to any ac wiring? Neutral ac wire 
connected to earth in one and only one spot in the whole ac system? 
The DC side bonded at the same spot or at least close? If you have a 
ground rod for ac and another for DC, are they well bonded together?
If so, try twisting the inverter cables if possible. If that doesn't 
help, try disconnecting the ground on the DC side only. Sometimes a 
ground loop can occur. Sometimes you're just screwed.
