Inverter/genset problem [RE-wrenches]

Unless you are running that China diesel through a step down 
transformer you've got a 5000W generator. When you severely load just 
one leg of a 120/240 genny, all kinds of things can happen to voltage 
regulation and frequency. Assuming you have checked the voltage and 
cycles and found them reasonably OK, try putting a 1500W heater on 
the other leg. If everything works fine, then that's possibly the 
problem.
