<x-flowed>Hello Kurt and Wrenches

Thanks for this tip, I'll check it out.

Contrary to what many of you may think, I read every Wrench posting.
Since I'm not really a Wrench anymore, but a lard-assed office
worker, I try to keep my postings to a minimum. However, we recently
had a refrigeration experience that some of you may find useful.

Karen's mom recently moved from New Orleans to Medford, OR. We set
her up in a house which needed a new fridge/freezer. Joe Schwartz did
some homework and selected a model for her. It's a Maytag with auto
defrost (no possibility of easily defeating this and not even
desirable in this case). It's 18 cubic feet and has no water
connections (ice trays only and no cold water urinating out the front
door). Very nice interior layout that puts our Sun Frost RF-19 to
shame. Energy consumption is 1,180 watt-hours per day. It cost
slightly less than $800.

Fridges from conventional makers are getting just about as efficient
as specialty models and cost is only 1/3 as much.
