saving old 'new' batteries [RE-wrenches]

Carl,
   My Experience with "old" new batteries has been more like Trojans claim.  
I had a set of new L16's that sat around and rode around in my truck for a 
total of about 5 months before I hooked them up.  They definitely showed 
signs of sulfating and with lots of equalizing charges seemed to recover.  I 
added 4 more to the bank (fresh ones) about 5 months later and now I seem to 
have a ghost load that I can't find.  No current is flowing according to the 
emeter but the batteries seem to lose charge.  I'm wondering if the newer 
batteries are trying to charge the older problem batteries.  The other 
explanation may be the "humming DC250 (see my letter and responses last 
spring).  Gang,  any of you still waiting for me to fix the humming box, stay 
tuned.  I now have another reason to rewire.
