The manufacturer's instructions are likely to say the DC leads of the PV module are to be plugged directly into the MLPE. For example, the Enphase IQ7 microinverter instructions state, "<span style="font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif">Connect the DC leads of each PV module to the DC input connectors of the corresponding </span><span style="font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif">microinverter or adapter." Extending the DC leads of the PV module could easily be construed as a violation.
