So in an off-grid scenario, the wires could be as small as #4. In a grid interconnected situation where there is potential pass-through current exceeding the inverter output current, the wire would need to be protected according to the available current on the grid input terminals. If there is a generator, the inverter output circuit would need to be protected based on the generator rating. The fixed 200A rating of the inverter load disconnect is the confusing part. It seems like it would be more functional if it were replaceable with various ratings of main breaker.
