<p class="MsoNormal">Dave &#8211; Unfortunately the SPS feature is not &#8220;back&#8221; fully.&nbsp; Choosing &#8220;yes&#8221; during commissioning for the SPS feature allows for it to work (with switch and outlet installed) but ONLY for the same solar day as an outage occurs.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">When the Sunny Boy goes to sleep, the sunspec transmitter will stop and the array will be in shutdown the next day.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Apologies for any confusion, as this is not the &#8220;same&#8221; SPS that we have been talking about since 2013&#8230;.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Please also note that choosing &#8220;yes&#8221; for the SPS feature during commissioning means the DC disconnect must be the Rapid Shutdown initiator, as the SunSpec signal must be disconnected from the array when the grid fails to trigger shutdown.&nbsp;
 If the AC breaker or other AC disconnect is to be used as the RSI, &#8220;no&#8221; should be chosen for that second menu choice after &#8220;Sunspec&#8221; is chosen for shutdown method on tab 4 of the Install Assistant.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">It is unlikely that this generation of Sunny Boy will improve the SPS situation, but SMA is working to fully reintroduce the SPS feature with the next gen Sunny Boy.&nbsp; Stay tuned&#8230;<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The last SMA-41 inverter I commissioned, had the option for SunSpec rapid shutdown with Secure Power Supply. I just talked to a level one tech who was not particularly familiar, but told me that with a sunspec rapid shutdown device like
 the JMS-F, you can still use the Secure Power Supply as if there was no rapid shutdown. I had stopped installing the SPS on rooftop systems, because if losing grid power initiates rapid shutdown, then you clearly do not have the power to run a SPS. But it
 sounds like maybe the inverter has the smarts to wake the solar back up once you flip the switch to activate the SPS. Can anyone here verify this? Have you done this, and does it work as expected with no extra hardware needed?<o:p></o:p></p>
