I have an interesting challenge. I bought a number of ZZZ 310 modules wiuth "cosmetic blemishes". There is some frame gouging and some transfer of Al to the surface of the modules. Not much of either. But on two modules there is a lot (10-12 squares inches) of Al to deal with. Enough to "block" at least 30% of one cell. I would like to remove the Al.

If I remember correctly, Al is attacked by an aqueous solution of NaOH. Not knowing any better, I would make a paste and apply it to the affected area, making sure that the paste did not come into contact with the frame.

Would this affect the anti-reflection coating (TiO) of the glass? If so is there another approach? I have at my disposal muriatic acid and glacial acetic acid.
