I have the 18v Milwaukee, smallest model, and I cut steel pipe up
to 6" with it (working it around). Its almost as fast as my shop
band saw. I use Bi metal blades with variable pitch teeth. Its
much better than a chop saw, less noise, no sparks, no smell... It
will do great on steel. Faster and cleaner than a torch or
anything else. Even with the 18 v model, I can get dozens of
cuts. I recently did a ground mount with SCH 40 1-1/2" pipe, and
it took maybe 15 minutes to do a couple dozen cuts.

The biggest problem I had early on was figuring out how to hold
it to get a straight cut. It sort of needs a gun sight to line up
with the blade to keep it square to the material.
