This routing facilitates the operation on over-current devices"(2011 Nec Handbook). And as far as safety goes I would never rely on the continuity of the conduit to be my EGC. What if it seperatres some how due to thremal expansion or some other unforeseen calamity? I do think SolarPro just ran a great grounding article recently too in regards to the 2011 code changes.<br>
