<DIV>Although we are doing more grid tie these days, we still get more than our share of off grid systems due to the fact that e have been doing this for son long that there was a time when all systems were battery based. For many years we were installing 1800 RPM Kohlers with really good experience until they quit making their own engines and now all Kohlers propane units under 25 kW (I think) are 3600 RPM machines and do not have the same performance as the 1800 RPM units. Once this engine and RPM change happened I think they must have started to have more warranty issues, as now they try to void the warranty if they find out your are using it for off-grid solar backup application. I also know the Genawrecks also limit their warranties to grid backup only, so we started looking around for a more robust propane generator in the 12 to 17 kW residential range.</DIV>

<DIV>So far the only generator we have found that the manufacturer will allow full time backup off grid application is the Gelette line. Anybody have any experience with these. We are considering taking them on and start stocking, but not sure if there are any quality, service, or repair issues. Anyone using these, or can suggest another line that will not void warranty for off grid?</DIV>
