Yeah, William,
The PS--"So close, yet so far".  It needs its own heavy-duty wish list.
1.  You MUST sell it with the $300 remote.  In your case, for the reasons you mention.  With flooded batteries, 'cuz there's no way to EQ from a generator without it.  BIG design flaw.
2.  Yup.  Volatile memory, DC breaker.  Service call to reset.  BIG design flaw.
3.  Multicolor LED to indicate inverter mode, located on the bottom of the unit where it's real hard to see.  BIG design flaw.
4.  Noisier than the SW, which isn't known for being quiet.

You get my drift?

Subject: PS inverters [RE-wrenches]

Pals:

I'm about ready to install my first PS series inverters. I've been reading the manual (gasp). It appears the PS has the same menus the SW does, but without the control panel. This makes the non-volatile memory even more important. I could not, in good conscience, install a PS inverter with gel cells, it would fry them! This also makes the default set points even more critical as a tripped DC circuit breaker would require a technician to visit if any settings were changed from defaults.
