<BR> There is a MPPT like you describe built in Australia
by Australian Energy Research Labs - They have built it for over 8 years
and it's gone through 17 revisions to date - I handle a similar product
they build as a water turbine controller - apparently it's about
bulletproof and they are decent to work with - Nice folks.
<BR> The MPPT accepts from 18 to 160 volts DC without
a "switch" - just hook it up - there is a switch to set for battery
voltage - pretty much in 12 volt steps up to 72 volts - I'll give
you a contact if you're interested - the 1200 watt unit is rated at 28
amps - but I know it's good to 34 amps - compared to the RV power Products
units it is expensive - They also build controllers for solar pumping
