I did this to my old energy hog before I got my Sunfrost and it helped
lower energy consumption lots. I put a switch inside that turned off the
power to the defrost cycle timer, and when the unit actually NEEDED defrosting,
I turned it on, let it go through <u>one</u> cycle and turned it off for
another 2 to 3 months. It is interesting that this cycle runs so often
as it is sure not needed to run that much in our climate. I suppose this
is a design for the worst case scenario, like in more humid places.
<p>Our manual defrost Sunfrost needs defrosting less than once a year!
Plus it is quiet and doesn't cycle on and off excessively like the old
unit did. Love it!
