I tried it and the result I got was the inverters would run briefly without a gateway and then shut down. Apparently we needed the gateway to load in a grid profile to the inverters. </div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Once the client bought the gateway and we loaded the profile there was no reason to remove the gateway. Installing a single netmetered panel reduces a customer's marginal rate by 6 cents a kWh.
