<p class="MsoNormal">My customer came home to dead circuits after being out of town for several weeks. They are grid-tied and have a BBUS with an XW Pro. Their PV array is AC-coupled (Enphase IQ7+).<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">When they arrived home all of the critical load circuits were dead. The other circuits were working fine. The internet router was dead. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">I got called and made a visit. The XW was not feeding AC through to the loads and it was not charging the batteries. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Two battery status lights on the XW were illuminated. A value "279" was displayed. The small LED next to the "A" for charging was illuminated. No other green LED was on - no AC1, no AC2, no Event, no Equalize . The batteries had been
discharged, but were well above the LBCO. I tested the grid and it was 60Hz with 240V. All good there.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">There is no SCP. This is one of the early installs with a Gateway and I did not have computer stuff to get a look at any codes or other status info. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Perplexed, and a bit frustrated, I turned off the main DC 250A breaker and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then I turned the breaker back on and the XW worked just as one would hope - the grid connected through AC1 and, in turn, powered
the critical loads and began charging the battery.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">I thought that I would be able to find some answers once things were back online and I got home to the office where I could look at Insight and Enlighten. Looking at the Enlighten data I could see that production had ceased ten days prior
to my visit.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Insight has no recorded Alarms/Warnings/Events for this time period.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The XW load and battery discharging data show very little draw throughout the period which makes me believe the AC loads were not powered and the battery drain was attributable to idle consumption of the XW, Gateway and Battery Monitor.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">A series of thunderstorms coincided with the loss of data reporting. The neighbors, when asked, offered that they had lost an internet router to the same storms. They said that they didn't recall a power outage, but their router was cooked
and their PV system (Enphase) had stopped working requiring them to contact tech support.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">My gut is that a surge on the Gateway's CAT cable triggered the XW's relays to open and stay open. The system seems to be working just fine now and doesn't appear to have suffered lasting damage. Not so for the venison in the freezer.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">I'd love to hear from anyone who may have had a similar experience with the XW or who feels like they have a fair guess as to what caused the problem. <o:p></o:p></p>
