They were my go-to for small to modest off-grid systems in very remote areas. Their little MMS series inverter/charger was excellent for remote, seasonal hunting/fishing camps etc….build a small power panel with it, stretch wrap it all for the helicopter basket (instead of a long line) and quick deployment.

The RC50 remote was very intuitive to even tech-challenged clients, and a few years back (before Sensata obviously!) I still recall a live SMS texting tech support session with Magnum that fixed our remote northern BC heli fly-in steelhead fishing camp genny charging issue. I was out in the rain on a cliff above the river to get Iridium sat reception for SMS and radioing instructions to the camp manager in the solar shed as Magnum texted detailed settings changes to me over the sat link.

My own home off-grid system is Magnum, with BMK and shunt, web interface box, gen start box, etc. . It made my heart skip a beat to hear the news about them, what if my inverter dies? Well, it’s been 13 years and it hasn’t missed a beat. Fingers crossed.

Dan Fink
Owner, Buckville Energy Consulting LLC
IREC Certified Instructor for PV and Small Wind Installation
NABCEP Certified PV System Inspector
NABCEP PV Associate
danbob88@gmail.com
970-672-4342
