It's a single threaded connection that holds the 2 together with a little bit of oil on the motor side. The issue is no one carries the extra parts so very long lead times from Grundfos and they are not cheap I think its like 1800 for a new pump head. I've had three 3 SQF-2 and they are all quite loud, even 300 ft down the well. Maybe the 6 SQF is different. My old 3 SQF-2 will still pump water but not against much head. I think it failed because it had been running 24/7 for some time. If the leak is in the well it might even have heated up the water.
