When the utility began to use the GE Smart Meters (with SilverSprings zigbee card) a lot of new "features" were rolled out in California.<br><br></div>The smart meters can detect if there is selling of power prior to an authorization to interconnect. If they see power flowing backwards, they charge it as consumption!<br><br></div>The smart meters also notify the utility if a system is backfeeding the meter without being authorized.<br><br></div>It makes sense that they would also cap the amount of sell back at or near the inverter kw.
