My first take on it is that it's been developed for those who
already have batteryless GT systems and now want to add backup
capability. The Tesla Powerwall has generated plenty of buzz, even
though it's still expensive and unavailable, for battery backup.
Seems like smart marketing to me, to have a ready solution to allow
a relatively simple add-on package, with batteries, battery-based
inverter, and controller/transfer switch, that allows the array to
recharge the batteries during an outage. The Radian (or Schneider
XW) are good approaches for new systems, but there are thousands of
batteryless string-inverter systems out there, and this is a key
part of an add-on package. Seems to me it beats an AC-coupled add-on
package.<br>
