<div dir="ltr"><div>Hi Alan,<br><br></div><div><a href="http://aprovecho.org" target="_blank">Aprovecho Research Center </a> in Cottage Grove Oregon has a great little free publication for downloading called <a href="http://www.aprovecho.org/lab/index.php?option=com_rubberdoc&view=doc&id=115&format=raw" target="_blank">"Capturing Heat" </a><br><br></div><div>That book has step by step illustrated instructions for building the classic Maria Telkes box cooker from wood, glass, cardboard, aluminum foil and black paint. They also discuss rocket stoves and haybox cookers and a conical solar cooker.<br><br></div><div>A more recent innovation in solar cooking that I'd love to see grow in popularity is the <a href="http://blazingtubesolar.com/pb/wp_b62ca705/wp_b62ca705.html" target="_blank">blazing tube</a>. That one uses an evacuated tube SHW collector in a parabolic trough to heat an oil transfer fluid to move the heat up to a cook box located at a comfortable working height and potentially out of the sunshine completely with the addition of a shade structure or umbrella. It seems like the most practical approach I've seen yet but I've never actually seen one in action. I see from an update on their website that they now have a design that integrates a rocket stove firebox so the cooker can be used with wood or other biomass during cloudy weather or at night.
