Are you sure you want that?<br>
<br>
Trace never provided part numbers for relays, as this was limited
to their Authorized Service Centers. Best I knew, you had to
replace the relay board. Given that Trace > Xantrex >
Schneider, that may not be an easy task. If you can find one,
expect big <big><big><big>$$$</big></big></big> for a board made
out of unobtanium.<br>
<br>
Your customer must have a diesel generator with glow plugs, and a
three-wire start scenario with glow plugs? If it's simpler than
that, you may be able to find a simpler workaround. Here are
excerpts from the SW 4.01 manual about RY8:<br>
<br>
The SW Series Inverter/Charger provides two relays, labeled RY7
and RY8, to allow starting of many<br>
types of generators. Two LED indicators provide status indications
whether RY7 or RY8 have been<br>
energized.<br>
<br>
The relay labeled RY7 is used to provide either a STOP signal or a
RUN signal. It can also be used to<br>
provide a GLOW signal on diesel generators with glow-plugs. The
relay labeled RY8 is used to provide a<br>
crank signal for the starter of the generator engine. It is not
used on two-wire type (auto cranking)<br>
generators. The COM (common) terminals of the relays are separated
and both the N.O. (normally open)<br>
and N.C. (normally closed) contacts of the relays are provided.<br>
<br>
<br>
The AC circuit board provides male type push on connectors and you
are provided crimp-on terminals in<br>
your hardwire package to connect to these Aux and Gen Control
relays. These terminals allow easier<br>
connection of a variety of wire sizes and allow faster
installation and troubleshooting. This circuit board<br>
also includes two LED indicators to allow visual indication of the
generator control sequence provided by<br>
relays RY7 and RY8. These relays are not intended to directly
control the starter motor or operate the<br>
ignition system - rather they can be used to send a signal or
operate the coil of another higher amperage<br>
device which does the actual switching of the power.<br>
<br>
GEN STARTING DETAILS (13) MENU HEADING<br>
Set RY7 Function to GlowStop or Run<br>
<br>
Allows Relay 7 (RY7) to provide two different generator start
routines. The relay labeled RY7 is used to<br>
either provide a STOP signal or a RUN signal. It can also be used
to provide a GLOW signal on diesel<br>
generators with glowplugs. Note that the right side choice, RUN,
is the default.<br>
<br>
When RUN is selected as the function of the RY7 relay, the RY7 COM
and RY7 N.O. contacts remain closed<br>
while the generator is running. The RY7 N.C. (normally closed)
contact is open (not connected to the common<br>
terminal) while the generator is running. When the generator is
off, the RY7 N.C. terminal is connected to the<br>
RY7 COM terminal. This configuration is useful for starting a two
wire (auto crank) type generator.<br>
<br>
When GLOWSTOP is selected as the function of the RY7 relay, the
RY7 COM and RY7 N.O. contacts<br>
remain open while the generator is running. The contacts close
only when it is time for the generator to be<br>
stopped, then re-open. This is useful for generators that require
a stop signal to shut down the generator.<br>
<br>
The GLOWSTOP setting can also be used for diesel generators. This
relay can be used to provide both<br>
the GLOW and STOP signals. When this is done the generator will be
given both GLOW and STOP<br>
signals before cranking and when stopping.<br>
<br>
<br>
Set Pre Crank seconds; Range: 00 to 255<br>
Sets the number of seconds the system delays closing of relay RY8
- the star signal relay - once relay<br>
RY7 is closed. See the AUTOMATIC GENERATOR CONTROL MODE for more
information. This period<br>
may also be the amount of time that the glow plugs will be on if
they are connected to the automatic<br>
control system.<br>
<br>
Set Max Cranking seconds; Range: 00 to 15<br>
Sets the maximum number of seconds the starter will be cranked
during the starting sequence by closing<br>
relay RY8. See the AUTOMATIC GENERATOR CONTROL MODE for more
information.<br>
<br>
<br>
So you may not need RY8. If you must have RY8, consider removing
one of the auxiliary relays RY9, 10, or 11 and soldering it in
place of RY8. I have never tried this - indeed, I have never used
RY8 in any of our ld SW systems, as we never used diesel
generators. But you're at sea level in a warm climate, so y'all
just might.<br>
<br>
Hope this helps a bit.<br>
