Assuming the missing word in your first sentence is "customer", I
have never understood the old "customer is always right" line. In
my experience, the customer is often wrong, and it's my job (in my
field of expertise, that is) to tactfully point that out. If the
customer insists on what I consider to be an unwise approach, I
can write a disclaimer and hold to that approach, or turn down the
work. I have turned down jobs for this reason, and have never
ended up regretting having done so.
In this case, this would especially be true with a long time
installer like Jay, who would know what to advise a customer.
The is always right!
Just carefully align the S-5!s with a mason line and use a plywood template or some other material template to keep these straight.
We also use a lot of S-5! and have Milwaukee 12v impact drivers to set the screws. Check the torque with a wrench as well.
Good luck.
Thank you,
Maverick

This install sort of follows the thread on wrenches.
The client decided this was the racking he wanted.

I used them one time and went back to rails.
It would have been prudent to build a thin plywood jig to match the PV you are using.
The advantage of rails is that you have somewhere to attach wires, boxes (and inverters).
Thank you,
Maverick
