I'm doing a little circuit breaker homework and have been trying to figure out if standard residential two-pole breakers for the inverter need to be independent or common trip type. For example, Eaton Cutler-Hammer make quadplex independent trip type and common trip type. My understanding is that manual operation of either of these types must be done with both two-poles. However, the independent trip type will trip one side of the circuit without tripping the other. Incidentally, the rejection tab feature (which prevents the breaker from being installed on non-notched type busbars) seems to be more prevalent on the common trip models. Anyone a breaker guru who can explain why one might one or the other?
