Its a legitimate point, but nothing is "official". Insulated is
fine, but don't use THHN, it will deteriorate quickly in the UV
outdoors. I believe USE-2 is available in colors besides black now.
You might be able to color tape USE-2, also. 690.4(B) allows marking
tape on smaller conductors, but specifies PV system conductors, so
I'm not sure if that could be applied to the EGC. Hmmmm.....
You might also be able to use pieces of heat shrink on bare Cu just
where it crosses other metals.
This is yet another reason why WEEBs are a god send.
I was wondering what the "official" postion was with EGCs being
ran where they came in contact with racking. Is it standard
practice to use a bare or a insulated ECG? I do recall having some
AHJs in Marin, CA mandating the use of an insulated ground wire,
due to the fact that it came into contact with dissimilar metals
(anodized AL rail and galvanized B-line strut) on the roof. One
approach was to use weeb grounding clips at each module to limit
the need and length of the EGC etc. I was just hoping to hear how
everybody was dealing with this issue.
Thanks in advance,
