I used a galvanized corrugated steel roof for my own rain catch and never had a problem, although some people don't like it. Earthships used Propanel in the 90s but had them leak (less than 1:12 pitch) and then were using a EPDM roofing membrane with white painted on coatings (don't know what the coating was). We were always told not to use any asphalt based roofs (comp, or tar and gravel) Also I would imagine wood shingles are treated with nasty stuff, and wouldn't be a good choice either.<div>As others said, standing seam would be optimal for rain catch and PV.</div><div>Regardless, no one should plan to drink it without serious treatment. Most cisterns in New Mexico test positive for E Coli bacteria, when tested for real estate inspections.</div><div> <br><div>
