No, this isn't technical, but it's pretty relevant to the human

You may have heard of the forest fire that has burned a fair bit of
the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico and that threatened Los Alamos,
the home of much of our country's nuclear weapons research, last
week. The fire is now only considered 40% contained and has burned
about 137,000 acres. We can see the flames most evenings from our
off-grid home in nearby mountains 25 miles to the south.<br>
<br>
One of our good off-grid customers is a Los Alamos city firefighter.
He and his wife built their home deep in those mountains; until last
week our biggest PV concern was adding a fixed array near the ridge
of his roof to take advantage of the narrow solar window in his
canyon. His home was in the initial firestorm, and he considered it
"miraculous" that his home is standing after the fire passed right
through the canyon. About six windows were cracked from the heat,
and the east wall in the photos is scorched, but the home is
standing and the lights all work - likely the only home in the
entire area that remains standing and has electricity.<br>
<br>
Some of our other customers lost their homes, as far as we can tell.
New Mexico is in a severe drought, and the ground and trees are
tinder-dry. Entire national forests and wilderness areas are closed
around here because of fire danger. I personally believe that we are
already experiencing the effects of human-caused climate disruption.<br>
