Battery systems and the weather are the most variable things we all have to deal with- and the most misunderstood. I totally agree with Darryl here and it makes common sense. PV cells are manufactured under seriously strict controls and nearly entirely by machines and robotics, yet they still have variance from one individual cell to the next. Battery manufacture is better than that? No way.<div>Having just one string doesn't get you away from the variables, just lessens their impact over many cycles and years.</div><div>Bob-O<br><div><div>On Jun 2, 2011, at 9:47 AM, Darryl Thayer wrote:</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><div><div style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; position: static; z-index: auto; "><div><span>it is due to differences in the strings; in charging and in discharging differentials. this is due to temp differences very small differences in connections and differences in the cells themselves. <br></span></div><div><span>Darry<br></span></div><div><br></div><div style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 12pt;"><font size="2" face="Arial"><hr size="1"><b><span style="font-weight:bold;">From:</span></b> boB Gudgel <<a href="mailto:boB@midnitesolar.com">boB@midnitesolar.com</a>><br><b><span style="font-weight: bold;">To:</span></b> Darryl Thayer <<a href="mailto:daryl_solar@yahoo.com">daryl_solar@yahoo.com</a>>; RE-wrenches <<a href="mailto:re-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org">re-wrenches@lists.re-wrenches.org</a>><br><b><span style="font-weight: bold;">Sent:</span></b> Thursday, June 2, 2011 11:32 AM<br><b><span style="font-weight: bold;">Subject:</span></b> Re: [RE-wrenches] 24 volt Battery Bank comparison<br></font><br>

<div><span>Excellent comment tom, so true. I get concerned that
some of my experiences are a collection of exceptions. I
like Larry's comments because he has worked so many

Now my question would be... Why ?<br>
<br>
I have to think that with more batteries in the system, they are
just not getting charged as well.<br>
<br>
If that's the case, I think this could be fixed. Haven't battery
chargers and education gotten<br>
better since 1967, Tom ?<br>
