But the Oateys will still see some reflected UV radiation. I've seen other parts "protected by the array", totally deteriorate in 5 years (UV resistant tie wraps anyone?). In Hawaii, roofing supply houses only sell replacement Oatey seals, but not the flashings anymore. The deterioration could be due to other factors like humidity, not just UV.<div>Also consider the aesthetics of installations with Oatey flashings with the panels flying 6" to 8" off the roof. </div><div>Sure the cooling is better, but it's not selling many systems down the block. It's a clunky looking install.</div><div><div>The Eco flashing stuff that Dave Palumbo pointed out looks good. </div><div>As Nick mentioned, I too found the Quick mount flashing to be weak at the rivet, although as long as the lag is tightened, I don't think it would leak.</div><div><br></div><div><div>

I have seen 25 year old <span class="SpellE">oaty</span> flashings rot out in the
sun too. I think caulked L-feet is a more long lasting solution to roof mounts.<br>

One of our local jurisdictions, City of <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Petaluma</st1:place></st1:city>, is beginning to require flashed footings
under all solar arrays. I think that some flashed footings are better
than the Unirac L feet or <span class="SpellE">Prosolar's</span> <span class="SpellE">TileTrac</span> foot, but the flashed footings cost a lot more $,
and some flashed footing products seem flawed (less watertight) They are
asking me to uninstall two commissioned systems from last week, and replace the
footings with flashed Fast Jacks, even though the documents detailed the
penetration method. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
