The water pipe should already be grounded to the grounding electrode

system.  If you connect to that system anywhere, you should be

bonded to metallic water pipes, in a properly constructed electrical

system. <br><br>

Not the easiest thing to confirm on a retrofit.  If we can't find an

existing ground-rod we drive one ourselves.<br><br>
