gently peel the top shingle off and then fasten the anchor down. After work is
complete you can remove the anchor (often times with great difficulty) seal the
holes, and then replace the top shingle after the work is complete. Another
common method is to simply use some good sealant and fasten it to the rafters
right through the top of the cap. Then, the anchors can permanently be left in
place for future maintenance work if aesthetics isn’t a concern. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

Has anyone found roof anchors that are designed to span the ridge cap on
existing composition shingle roofs? We have a number of different types
of anchors that we attach on the north side of the roof with screws into the
truss but that invariably leaves the issues that result from running a rope
over the peak: crushing the ridge cap, damaging the ridge cap shingles, wear on
the rope, etc... We use the "carpet or cardboard on the ridge"
method but it is imperfect. We have one anchor that is designed to span
the ridge on unfinished roofs with a 6" leather strap but it won't span
most ridge caps. I'm looking at the Guardian Fall Protection catalog -
which is awesome - but it doesn't have anything for this particular
application.<br>
